October 3, 1920 – April 23, 1991

SOUTH BEND – Joseph H. DeBaets, 70, of 2158 Hollywood Place, died at 6:15pm Tuesday at Meridian Nursing Center-Cardinal.

Mr. DeBaets retired in 1980 as a field representative for Indiana Michigan Power Co.

He was born October 3, 1920, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident. On October 9, 1948, in South Bend, he married Dorothy Marshall. She survives with two sons, Tim of New York City and Terry of Houston; a sister, Florence Pinter of South Bend; and a brother, Henry of South Bend.

He was a member of Harvest House and Ushers Club, both of Holy Cross Catholic Church, American Legion Pulaski Post 357 and Volksring, and was a veteran of World War II.

Services will be at 10am Friday in Holy Cross Catholic Church. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm Thursday in Kaniewski & Sons Funeral Homer, where a wake will be at 3pm.
