Joseph Deblase

SOUTH BEND - Joseph Deblase, 88, living at the River Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, South Bend, Ind., died at 8:25 p.m. on Friday, Feb 27, in the nursing center. Joe was born on Aug. 26, 1909, in Lake Geneva, Wis. He was the son of Steve and Maggie (Matacia) Deblase.

 

Joe is survived by a sister, Santina Deblase of South Bend; a sister-in-law, Ida Deblase of South Bend; and by a brother-in-law and his wife, Frank and Cathy Fotia of South Bend. Other survivors include Mary Pangallo, Marie Fotia, Stephanie Deblase and Mary Hurst, all of South Bend. He is also survived by two nephews, Tony Deblase of California and Frank C. Fotia of South Bend; and by three great-nieces and three great-nephews.

 

Joe was the retired owner and operator of the Sample Street Wrecking Co., retiring in 1990. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.

 

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Guisinger Colonial Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. Funeral services for Joseph Deblase will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday in the Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. Entombment will take place in Highland Cemetery.
