Mamie DeBlase

Sept. 27, 1881 – Aug. 22, 1960

SOUTH BEND – Mrs. Mamie DeBlase, 79, a resident of Alexandrian Nursing Home, 118 S. William Street, died there at 11:30 a.m. Monday after an extended illness. She was born in DiPalermio, Italy, on Sept. 27, 1881, and had lived in South Bend for 60 years coming from Italy.

 

She was married to Augustino DeBlase in 1900 in Chicago. She was the former Mamie Gaglione. Mr. DeBlase died eight months ago. Surviving are a daughter Mrs. Eugene Holowinski; two sons, August and Edward DeBlase, all of South Bend; three sisters, Mrs. Rose Salamonie and Mrs. Florence Gaglione, both of Columbus, Ohio and Mrs. Santa Mecurio of Buffalo, N.Y.

 

Friends may call after 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Walsh-Bilianco Colonial Chapel. Services will be at 9 a.m. Friday in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph J. Corcoran CSC, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

 

Editor: There is a difference on spelling of her maiden name, between this obit and that of her husband. Also her husband died in 1953, not eight months ago as stated in this obit.
