David E. Decker

April 8, 1942 - April 30, 2010
GRANGER - David E. Decker, 68, of Granger, passed away at 5:50 p.m. Friday, April 30, 2010, in his home surrounded by family. David was born on April 8, 1942, in Mishawaka, to the late Cecil and Melba Decker. On June 30, 1965, in Mishawaka, he married Mary Bradley, who still survives along with their son, Daniel Decker of Fountain Valley, CA. He is also survived by two sisters, Barbara Buckley of Tacoma, WA, and Judy Green of Syracuse, IN; and a sister-in-law, Sue Decker of Niles, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Alan Decker; and by a brother, James Decker. Dave proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Oglethorpe. He became honorably discharged in 1964. He was a member of the American Legion Post 308 of Osceola. He will be remembered for his love of music, movies and cooking. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, May 3, 2010, in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2010, in the funeral home, with Rev. Gary Gaskill officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Memorial donations may be made to the Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637; or the St. Joseph County Humane Society, 2506 Grape Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
