Mary T. DeCola

Feb. 25, 1919 - Nov. 22, 1999

Mary T. DeCola, 80, of Meadowlark Lane, South Bend, Ind., died at 5 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 22, in Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center.

She was born on Feb. 25, 1919, in Vincennes, Ind., and had lived in South Bend for 66 years, coming from Vincennes. She retired in 1981 from the University of Notre Dame Security Department.

Mrs. DeCola was a member of the Cathedral of St. Matthew and the Rosary Society of the church, the St. Joseph Altar and Rosary Society, Knights of Columbus Wives, the Daughters of Isabella and the Circle of Mercy.

She was married on April 25, 1942, as Mary T. Dattilo, to Joseph A. DeCola, who survives.

She is also survived by two sons, Robert (Bonnie) DeCola of South Bend and Victor (Pam) DeCola of South Bend; eight grandchildren, Kathy (Scott) Lehmann, Karen (Ken) Kochanowski, Jeri DeCola, Joseph DeCola, Michael DeCola, Robert DeCola, Jr., Lisa DeCola and Frank Wukovits, III; and by three great-grandchildren, Aaron and Elizabeth Lehmann, and Morgan Kochanowski.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ann DeCola-Wukovits; a brother, August Dattilo; and by a sister, Margaret Panzica.

Mary was loving wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to all. She was always available to others, enjoyed life to its fullest, and will always be remembered for her compassion to others and her contagious smile.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 1827 E. Ireland Road, South Bend, where a Rosary will be said at 4:30 p.m.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 24, in the Cathedral of St. Matthew. Entombment will be at Highland Cemetery.
