Charlotte Erika De Cook

Charlotte "Lottie" Erika De Cook, 80, of South Pulaski, South Bend, passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday, March 12, in her home. Lottie was born on September 4, 1925, in Wetzlar, Germany. She was preceded in death by her parents, and by two sons, Daniel Joseph at birth and Albert Jr. on March 9, 1992.

 

On October 11, 1952, in Giessen, Germany, as Charlotte Zellmer, she married Albert E. De Cook Sr., who survives. Also surviving Lottie are five sons, Thomas (Candy) of Mishawaka, Donald of Warsaw, Alan, Charles and Roger, all of South Bend; 11 grandchildren, Erica, Danny, Tim, Shell, Joe, Shawn, Melissa, Amber, April, Sara and Charlotte; eight great-grandchildren, Destiny, Daniel, Courtney, Tyler, Alex, Pandora, Cailynn and Erynn.

 

Lottie was an extraordinary woman, she taught herself to read and write English then developed a love of reading in English. She enjoyed her hobbies of crocheting and knitting, fishing and just being outdoors in nature.

 

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, March 17, in the Hahn Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
