Marie V. DeCraene

SOUTH BEND - Marie V. DeCraene, 80, of Kettering Drive, died Friday evening in her home of natural causes. Mrs. DeCraene retired from St. Joseph's Medical Center as a nurse. She was born Oct. 1, 1914, in St. Joseph, and lived in South Bend most of her life, coming from St. Joseph. On June 27, 1938, in South Bend, as Marie Poffenberger, she married Emil G. DeCraene. He died Nov. 3, 1993. She is survived by two daughters, Dian Weller of South Bend and Mary Knight of Granger; two sons, Bernie L. of Granger and John R. of Mishawaka; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Joseph Holy Cross Nurse Alumni Association and St. Piux X Catholic Church, Granger, and was a graduate of St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the church. Cremation will take place, with entombment in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today in Hickey Funeral Home, 17131 Cleveland Road. Memorial contributions may be made to the church building fund.
