Alice A. DeFauw

Alice A. DeFauw, 82, of Charles Street, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 7:40 a.m. on Wednesday morning, March 4, in the Western Arizona Medical Center, Bullhead City, Ariz. She was a lifetime Mishawaka resident. Mrs. De Fauw was born on Sept. 27, 1915, in Mishawaka.

 

On Nov. 28, 1936, in St. Bavo's Catholic Church, Mishawaka, as Alice Bennett, she married Marshall ''Mike'' DeFauw, who preceded her in death on Aug. 30, 1995. Mrs. DeFauw was also preceded in death by a daughter, Marsha J. Hahn on May 7, 1996; and by a brother, George Bennett on May 15, 1989. She is survived by a daughter, Judith A. (John) Mortimore of Sun City, Ariz., with whom Mrs. De Fauw made her winter home; a son-in-law, C. Ronald Hahn of Mishawaka; seven grandchildren, John Mortimore, III, Scott Mortimore, Michael Hahn, R. Patrick Hahn, Rick Hahn, Pam Hackett and Angela Huffman; 15 great-grandchildren; and by a sister-in-law, Helen Bennett of South Bend, Ind.

 

Mrs. DeFauw was an x-ray technician for Radiology Incorporated at Memorial Hospital, South Bend, retiring in 1974. She was a member of B-K Club Ladies Auxiliary, Mishawaka.

 

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday in St. Bavo's Catholic Church, Mishawaka. Rev. James Shafer will officiate. Burial to follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park Granger, Ind.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. Eighth Street, Mishawaka. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Bavo's Catholic School, 511 W. 7th Street, Mishawaka, IN 46544; or to the charity of donor's choice.
