Mary DeFauw

Mary DeFauw, 89, of West Sixth Street, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 11:09 a.m. on Wednesday morning, Feb. 11, in St. Joseph Community Hospital, Mishawaka. Mrs. DeFauw was born in Cohoes, N.Y., on Feb. 5, 1909, as the daughter of the late Bartholomew and Louise (Les) Sudol.

 

On Nov. 7, 1936, in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, South Bend, Ind., as Mary Sudol, she married Alphonse DeFauw, who preceded her in death on July 21, 1990. Mrs. DeFauw is survived by a daughter, Charlotte A. DeFauw of Mishawaka, with whom she resided; a sister, Helen Niezgodski of South Bend; several nieces and one nephew; and by her loving caregiver, Elaine Balentine.

Mrs. DeFauw worked for Uniroyal in Mishawaka for 25 years. She enjoyed many things throughout her life, playing cards, dancing with her husband and attending church at St. Bavo's Catholic Church, Mishawaka, where she was a member.

 

Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. today in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. Eighth Street, Mishawaka. A Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. today in the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday in St. Bavo's Catholic Church, with Rev. James Shafer officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park Mausoleum, Granger, Ind.
