Jon James De Freeuw

Jon James De Freeuw, 60, of Mishawaka passed away at home on June 7, 2006. Jon was born on October 19, 1945, in South Bend to the late John P. and Carrie (Kreczmer) De Freeuw. He was also preceded in death by a son, Joseph De Freeuw; three sisters, Esther De Freeuw, Janice Chiszar and Yvonne Bamber; and by two brothers, Alphonse and Gary De Freeuw.

 

Surviving Jon are a son, John Charles (Kelly) De Freeuw of Longwood, Fla.; a daughter, Jessica (Doran) Kenney of Sanford, Fla.; four grandchildren, Hunter and Colton De Freeuw, Kelsey Kenny and Joseph De Freeuw; a sister, Marlene Wafer of Mishawaka; and by 10 nieces and nephews, Kristine, Kim, Timothy, Michael, Marc, Van, Faythe Ann, William, Cindy and Michael; 20 grand-nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Victoria De Freeuw of Sanford, Fla.

 

Jon was a painter for White Farm Equipment until his retirement in 1981. He was a former member of St. Matthew's Cathedral, South Bend. He was an avid hunter and fisher and loved cars.

 

The family will receive visitors on Sunday, June 11, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 12, in St. Matthews Cathedral, South Bend, with Rev. Michael Heintz officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph PRC Cemetery, South Bend.
