Linda Joy Dekker

Linda Joy Dekker, 52, of Mishawaka, Ind., passed away of natural causes on Wednesday, Nov. 5, in her home. Mrs. Dekker was born July 10, 1951, to Hillis and Gloria (Rhymer) Platz in North Liberty, Ind.

 

On May 20, 1983, Linda married Roy C. Dekker in Potato Creek State Park, North Liberty. Roy survives. Surviving along with her parents are her children, Jeffrey S. Ransbottom and his wife, Jennifer of South Bend, Ind., Jacqueline S. Dollins of Mishawaka and Derek C. Dekker of Mishawaka; along with six grandchildren; and two brothers, Larry Platz and his wife, Sue of South Bend, and David Platz of North Liberty. Linda was preceded in death by her son, Aaron Michael.

 

Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Osceola, Ind. Services were conducted by Reverend Jim Davidson of Coalbush United Methodist Church on Sunday, Nov. 9, at 2 p.m. Interment followed at Ferrisville Cemetery.

 

Linda was the first tool-and-die designer in the city of South Bend. Linda had a great love of the outdoors. She enjoyed gardening, camping and hiking. God blessed her with the opportunity to hike Pike's Peak. Linda also had a great love for her family. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Memorial donations may be made to Hope Rescue Mission or to the Albright United Methodist Church food pantry.
