MISHAWAKA - Giacinta “Ginny” DeLuca, 95, of Mishawaka, passed away January 20, 2007, in Fountainview Place, Mishawaka, IN. Born April 4, 1911, in Fassacesia, Italy, Ginny was the daughter of the late Nicola and Filomena Polsoni. She came to the United States in 1919 and became a U.S. citizen September 10, 1940.

On May 25, 1930, as Giacinta Polsoni, she married Bellardino DeLuca at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, Notre Dame. He preceded her in death on July 18, 1979. Also preceding her in death were her two daughters, Ann (Ben Stajkowski survives) and Ninetta (Ed Nellans survives), and a granddaughter, Ann Marie Nellans. Surviving are two granddaughters, Tina (Gurmal) Rattan of Indiana, PA, and Nancy (David) Watkins of Leaf River, IL, and eight great-grandchildren.

A one hour viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 24, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the gathering room at Holy Family Catholic Church, Mayflower Road. Mass will then begin at 11:00 a.m. with Father Bernard Galic presiding. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, and then a lunch reception will be take place in the café at Holy Family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care or to Holy Family. The McGann Hay Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
