Raymond C. De Meulenaere

Oct. 11, 1920- April 20, 2001

Raymond C. De Meulenaere, 80, of Manor Drive, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 8:28 a.m. on Friday, April 20, in Saint Joseph Com-munity Hospi-tal.

Mr. De Meulenaere was born on Oct. 11, 1920, in Mishawaka, as the son of the late Aloys and Theresa (Van Huffel) De Meulenaere. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Leon and John De Meulenaere, and Emiel Buysse; and by two sisters, Rosemary Stogsdil and Margery Kobold.

On June 29, 1946, in St. Bavo's Catholic Church, Mishawaka, he married the former Elsie Lannoo. Mr. De Meulenaere is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Elsie; two sons, Joseph (Linda) De Meulenaere of Mishawaka and John (Dorene) De Meulenaere of Denton, Texas; six grandchildren, Jesseka, Amber, Matthew, Javis, Bryan and Erin; four sisters, Ida Boudonck of Mishawaka, Geneva Beehler of Mishawaka, Johanna Taylor of Northeast, Md., and Patricia Hughes of Newport, Mich.; and by a brother, August De Meulenaere of Milwaukee, Wis.

Mr. De Meulenaere worked for Dodge Manufacturing for 42 years before retiring as supervisor of assembly in 1982. He was a World War II Navy veteran, serving on the ship USS Cascade, was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Mishawaka, VFW Post 360, B.K. Club, Dodge Quarter Century Club, Dodge Management Club, Queen of Peace Holy Name Society, Dodge Athletic Association, AARP, and NARCUP.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 23rd, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 West 8th Street, Mishawaka, where a Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 24th, in the Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with Rev. Elden Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery where VFW Post 360 will conduct military rites.
