South Bend Tribune 5/26/2008

SOUTH BEND - Loving and devoted wife, mom, grandma, sister, daughter and friend; Kathleen was born on December 3, 1932, in Philadelphia, PA to James and Margaret (McCall) McPeak. She spent most of her life caring for others. After the untimely death of her mother, Kathleen left school at the age of 19 to help her dad with his business and care for her siblings.

Kathleen married her " Dear Mr. Dennin" on September 28, 1957, and moved to South Bend in 1969, where she raised their seven children. Her love and devotion sustained her husband, Tom, during his life and through his long battle with muscular dystrophy. On July 11, 1998, their daughter, and Mom's best friend Roni, died of a heart attack. Kathleen's faith and strength carried her family through the tremendous loss. Kathleen leaves behind sons, Tom (Angela), Jim, Mike and Matt; daughters, Peg Pittman and Patty (Kenny) Langley; brothers, John (Ellen) McPeak and Joe (Rita) McPeak of Philadelphia; and loving sister, Rosemary Berry of Merritt Island, FL., who spent the better part of the last year and a half caring for her sister and dear friend Therese Rohan, who was very good to Mom. Preceding Kathleen were her daughter, Veronica; husband, Tom; brothers, Jim and Harry McPeak; sister, Peg Haffey; niece, Kathy Haffey; nephew, R.J. Haffey; and brother-in-law, Jim Berry. Thirteen grandchildren were blessed to have Kathleen as their "Gram".

Visitation will be held at the McGann Hay, Forest G. Hay Chapel, Ironwood Dr. on Tuesday from 4- to 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be at St. Matthew Cathedral on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice. They are very special people.
