Donald Worth DePoy

Donald Worth DePoy, 77, of 4555 Chicago Road, Niles, Mich., died at 10 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6, at his home. He was born on Feb. 1, 1922, in New Carlisle, Ind., to George and Laura Lucille (Hooten) DePoy, who both preceded him in death. Donald was also preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.

 

On Dec. 30, 1945, in LaPorte, Ind., he married Harriette Marie Walton, who survives. Mr. DePoy is also survived by a daughter, Lindia (Charles) LaFrance of Fish Lake, Ind.; a son, Gregg (Cindy) DePoy of Buchanan, Mich.; two sisters, Margaret Conrad of Mill Creek, Ind., and Ruth Kelley of New Carlisle, Ind.; and a brother, Paul DePoy of Rolling Prairie, Ind.; two stepsisters, Rebecca Eggleston and Katherine Robinson, both of Mishawaka, Ind.; and by six grandchildren, Thomas LaFrance of Fish Lake, Aimee LaFrance of Chapel Hill, N.C., Edward DePoy of Buchanan, Jon-Paul LaFrance of Fish Lake, and Sheena and Jamie DePoy, both of Buchanan.

 

Mr. DePoy worked as a heavy equipment operator for Schumacher and Sons, and was also a farmer for many years. He was a member of the Operating Engineer Union Local 150, was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, and was a member of American Legion #0051 and VFW #3102, both of Buchanan.

 

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. (CST) on Wednesday, Feb. 10, with Rev. Ransom Ebersole officiating. Burial will be in the Rolling Prairie Cemetery, Rolling Prairie, Ind. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. (CST) today, and on Wednesday until the time of service at the Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Avenue, LaPorte.
