Mrs. Walter Derda

March 6, 1900 - September 26, 1963

 

Mrs. Mary M. Derda, 63, of 441 S. Kaley St., died at 10am Thursday in St Joseph's Hospital following a six month illness. 

 

Mrs. Derda came to this country 62 years ago from Poland, where she was born on March 6, 1900.  She was married to Walter Derda on November 9, 1920, in St Adalbert's Catholic Church.  He survives with two sons, Stanley and Ervin, both of South Bend; three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Heald of Ann Arbor MI, Mrs. Eleanor MacGregor of Walnut Creek CA, and Mrs. Rita Forsey of South Bend; 16 grandchildren; two brothers, John & Chester Slomski, both of South Bend, and eight sisters, Mrs. Martha Kuzmicz, Mrs. Louise Kapalczynski, Mrs. Helen Niezgodski, Mrs. Severine Kaczmarek, Mrs. Adeline Cytacki, Mrs. Esther Wesolowski, Mrs. Margaret Bass and Mrs. Clara Kopinski, all of South Bend.

 

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Pulaski Post 357, American Legion. 

 

Friends may call after 6:30pm Saturday in the St Joseph Funeral Chapel, where the rosary will be recited at 7.  Services will be at 9am Monday in St Adalbert Catholic Church with Very Rev. Msgr. Ignatius J. Gapczynski, pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in St Joseph Cemetery.

Funeral Notes

Pallbearers for Mrs. Mary M. Derda, 441 S. Kaley St., who died Thursday in St Joseph's Hospital, will be August Copinski, Robert Niezgodski, Jack Slomski, Edwin Kuzmicz, Aloysius Kuzmicz and Frank Kuzmicz.

 

Funeral services will be held at 9am Monday in St Adalbert's Catholic Church, with burial in St Joseph Cemetery.  Friends may call at the St Joseph Funeral Home.
