Thekla King Detzler

Mrs. Thekla King Detzler, 89, of 322 N. Cushing, died at 2:30 a.m. today in Dor-A-Lin Nursing Home. Born Oct. 31, 1885 in South Bend, she had lived here her lifetime.

 

On March 17, 1907 in South Bend, she married John J. Detzler, who died in 1957. Surviving are two sons, Jack J. of South Bend and Dickson F. of Indianapolis; a daughter, Mrs. Eugene C. Knoblock of South Bend; five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William. Rev. Harry Weber, pastor of the St. Paul Memorial United Methodist Chruch, will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.

 

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Mrs. Detzler was a member of St. Paul's church, a past president of the South Bend League of Women Voters and a past president of Colfax PTA and the South Bend PTA Council. For 25 years she had been secretary of the South Bend Democratic Women's Club and was active with civilian defense during World War II.
