Mildred L. DeVos

SOUTH BEND — Mildred L. DeVos, 90, formerly of North Liberty, Ind., passed away on Thursday, Dec. 2, in Memorial Hospital.

 

Mrs. DeVos was the daughter of Bert and Matilda Ward (both deceased), and was a lifelong resident of North Liberty until moving to Regency Place in South Bend in 1995.

 

Mildred was a 1929 graduate of North Liberty High School, and married Paul R. DeVos (deceased) in 1936. During World War II she worked at the Kingsbury Munitions facility, and later assisted her husband in the office of his plumbing and heating business.

 

Mrs. DeVos was involved in community activities throughout her life, serving as a cub scout den mother and organizing many community activities. She was also a member of the North Liberty Chapter of Eastern Star.

 

Throughout her life Mrs. DeVos was actively involved in Democratic party political organizations at the precinct, county and state level. She served as precinct committeewoman in North Liberty, and later worked in the St. Joseph County voters' registration office.

 

Mrs. DeVos is survived by a son, Paul Wm. (Phyllis) DeVos; and by a grandson, Paul Wm. DeVos, II, all of Elk Grove Village, Ill.
