Sister M. Aquina Dietzen CSC, 86, of Saint Mary’s Convent, died at 10:16 a.m. Sunday in her residence. She was born Oct. 3, 1906 in Danville, Ill. as JoHanna Mary Dietzen. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross at Saint Mary’s on June 15, 1928; was received as a novice on Jan. 6, 1929; and professed her final vows of Jan. 6, 1931. She was assigned as a teacher in elementary and high schools. In South Bend she taught at St. Joseph Grade School and St. Joseph Academy. She also taught at schools in Valparaiso; Michigan City; Hammond; Woodstock, Ill.; and Peoria, Ill. She later served as an accountant at Our Saviors Hospital in Jacksonville, Ill. and returned to South Bend, serving as librarian until 1983.

 

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, with burial following in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, both at St. Mary’s. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Tuesday in the convent where a wake will be at 7 p.m.
