Charles Rogers Difley

Charles Rogers Difley, 80, of McGregor, South Bend, Ind., passed away after a long illness at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 17, at the Regency Place of South Bend. He was a developmental engineer for the Whirlpool Corporation and during his lifetime had developed a total of 14 patents, including the streamlining of today's commercial trash compactor. Born on May 5, 1918, in San Diego, Calif., to the late Charles N. and Ivy (Coleman) Difley, he had lived in the South Bend area since 1962, coming from Pasadena, Calif.

 

He married on June 26, 1965, in Osceola, Ind., to Tatiana Medich, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Catherine Kush of South Bend; a son, Craig Difley of South Bend; a sister, Virginia Thomas of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; and by two brothers, David Difley of California and Albert Difley of Laguna Beach, Calif. Charles was a member of the Lions Club and was a member and past president of the Parkinson's Support Group. He was also a member of the Church of Christ, Scientist church.

 

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, at the Palmer Funeral Home in South Bend. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be held in the Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.
