Carmelo DiGirolamo, 77, residing on Roosevelt Road, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 9:50 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend. Mr. DiGirolamo was born on Oct. 20, 1925, in Boston, Mass., to the late Frank and Rose DiGirolamo. He had resided most of his life in South Bend.

 

On Feb. 8, 1948, in South Bend, Carmelo married Norma Patterson, who survives. Along with his wife, Norma of 55 years, he is survived by four daughters, Karen (Jim) McFarland of Scottsdale, Ariz., Carmen (Kirk Burkett) DiGirolamo of Austinville, Va., Michele (Brian) Holaway of Indianapolis, Ind., and Pam (Todd) Suomela of Elkhart, Ind.; two sisters, Beatrice Fardulis of Elkhart and Rosemary (Ron) DePastine of South Bend; one brother, Joseph (Dorothy) DiGirolamo of Mishawaka, Ind.; and by eight grandchildren, Lisa (Craig), Brian (Julieta), Chad, Tracy, Sonya (Jason), Caitlin, Dylan and Dakota. Mr. DiGirolamo worked as a foreman, retiring from CTS in Elkhart.

 

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to services on Saturday. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, Mel would like you to take your family and friends out to eat.
