Teresa M. Dilts, 44, of Dubail Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, Nov. 12, in Hospice House, South Bend. Born on Dec. 26, 1957, in South Bend, to Russell L. and Eleanor L. (Kelsey) Dilts, she was a lifelong area resident of South Bend. She was preceded in death by her father, and by her paternal and maternal grandparents. Teresa was a 1977 graduate of Riley High School and had been attending Ivy Tech State College before her illness. She was a former employee of the South Bend Tribune.

 

 

She married Larry D. Parker on Aug. 12, 1978, in Fredonia, Tenn. He survives and is now living in Ashland City, Tenn. She is also survived by one son, Dennis R. Parker of Orlando, Fla.; her mother, Eleanor L. Dilts of South Bend; three sisters, Edna L. (Bill) Blackburn of Colorado Springs, Colo., Louella D. Dilts and Angela I. Dilts, both of South Bend; a brother, Paul E. Dilts of Lake of the Woods, Bremen, Ind.; two nieces, Kathy L. (Dan) Landers of Colorado Springs and Christina A. Gushwa of Clackamas, Ore.; and by three nephews, Michael D. and (Keila) Gushwa of Las Vegas, Nev., Tim and Chatrice Blackburn of Fountain, Colo., and Chris Blackburn of West Hollywood Hills, Calif. Teresa loved to do all types of volunteer work, and to go to Lake Michigan to watch the sun set. She was a great fan of the Riley High School girls basketball team.

 

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15, in the Calvary Baptist Church, 3001 W. Cleveland Road, South Bend. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. today, Nov. 14, in Morning Star Funerals and Cremations. Pastor David Jenkins and Pastor Gilbert Washington will be officiating. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.
