June Dimich, 79, of South Bend, died following an illness at 11 p.m. Thursday, February 16, 2006, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Mrs. Dimich was born April 5, 1926, in Carlisle, Ind., to the late Harold and Mary (Osterhage) Risher, and had lived in South Bend since 1960, coming from Pendleton, Ind.

 

On March 21, 1948, in Terre Haute, Ind., as June Risher, she married Dan Dimich, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Dianne (Roger) Benko of Elkhart, Ind.; and two granddaughters, Lindsay (Michael) Mintenko of Redondo Beach, Calif., and Lesley Benko of Chicago, Ill. She was preceded in death by a sister, JoAnn Hesson. Mrs. Dimich retired from the South Bend Community School Corporation as a teacher at Washington High School after 25 years service. She served in education for 37 years and was a graduate of Indiana State University where she served on the Alumni Association Board of Directors. She was also a member of Tri Kappa Sorority and was named to "Who's Who in American Colleges."

 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 20, 2006, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 17033 Cleveland Road, South Bend, with Dr. Mark Fenstermacher of Trinity United Methodist Church, Elkhart, officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. today, February 19th, and from 10 a.m. until the time of services on Monday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the YMCA of Michiana, 1201 Northside Blvd., South Bend, IN 46615; to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637; or to the charity of the donor's choice.
