Rev. Wayne J. Divine

June 22, 1917 – August 16, 1978

Rev. Wayne J. Divine, 61, of 20207 Braughman Ct., died at 11am Wednesday at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester MN.  He was ill for six months.  He was formerly a missionary for the South Atlantic Baptist Mission, in Barbados, West Indies for 23 years.

Born in Teegarden IN on June 22, 1917, he lived in South Bend much of his life.  After returning from the West Indies, he worked as a salesman for Portage Realty for 17 years. 

He married Agnes Hawkins in Mishawaka on August 8, 1940. She survives with two daughters, Mrs. E. Joy Butiste of South Bend and Mrs. Ruth A Hunte of Barbados, West Indies; two sons, Paul W and John D, both of South Bend; 10 grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Jeanette Stegman, Mrs. Glenna Thompson and Mrs. Alice Klopfenstein, all of South Bend, Mrs. Evelyn Packard of Mishawaka; four brothers, Paul of South Bend, Earl of Rochester, Gail of Mishawaka and Frank of Chicago.  Divine was a member of the Board of Realtors of St Joseph County.

Services will be at 11am Saturday in Trinity Evangelical Free Church, where Rev. Divine was on the Board of Elders.  Dr. John E. Stensether, pastor, will officiate. 

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm Friday at Forest G. Hay Ironwood Chapel, 435 S. Ironwood.  Memorial contributions may be made to the missions through Trinity Church.

Services for Rev. Wayne J. Divine, 61, of 20207 Braughman Ct, will be at 11am Saturday in Trinity Evangelical Free Church.  Burial will be in Southlawn Cemetery.
