Services for Brother Ivan Dolan CSC, 61, who died at 9:45 p.m. Friday in St. Joseph Medical Center after an illness will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph Chapel of the Holy Cross Brothers Center, University of Notre Dame. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Notre Dame. Friends may call from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Monday at Columbia Hall on the Notre Dame campus. A wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the Brothers Center.

 

Brother Dolan was born June 1, 1924 in Waterloo, Iowa. He entered the Brothers of Holy Cross on Sept. 4, 1941 and made his first profession of vows Aug. 16, 1943. After graduating from the University of Notre Dame in 1947, he was assigned to the Holy Trinity High School in Chicago. That same year he went to Holy Cross Mission Seminary in Washington DC. From 1948 to 1968 he was assigned to the Holy Cross Missions in Bangladesh, where he served as teacher and headmaster in several of the mission schools in the District of Dhaka. In 1968 he returned to Columbia Hall as commissioner. He was also a member of the Notre Dame security force from 1979 to 1980.

 

From 1981 to 1985 he was again commissioner for the Columbia Hall community and served as chaplain to the Notre Dame security force. Brother Dolan is survived by his mother, Benita Dolan of Yardley, Pa., a sister, Rose Burns of Yardley; and a brother Dr. Carroll Dolan of Los Angeles, Calif.
