August Doll

Mishawaka – A resident of Mishawaka since 1880 when he came here from Germany, August Doll, 84, of 310 W. 8th Street, died at 2:25 p.m Monday in his home. He had been ill for the last nine months. Dr. Doll was born in Baden-Baden, Germany and married Josephine Sammet in St. Joseph Church here on May 28, 1902.

Mr. Doll was employed by the Ball-Band plant for 35 years before going to Dodge Mfg. Co. where he was employed until he retired in 1946. Surviving are his widow; four sons, Edwin, Eugene. Bernard and Wilfred Doll of Mishawaka; six daughters, Mrs. Alfred Thallemer, Mrs. Bernadette Poppe, Mrs. Jonathan Housand and Mrs. Benton Hurst, of Mishawaka, Miss Gertrude  Doll at home and Mrs. Gene Norris of South Bend; three brothers Edward Doll of Greenville, Ill., and Frank and Chris Doll of Pocahontas, Ill.; four sisters, Mrs. Lena Arnold, East St. Louis, Ill., Mrs. Henry Dahl of St. Louis, Mo., Miss Sophia Doll of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Phillip Willman of Greenville, Ill.; 31 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Friend may call at the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Chapel until the funeral services which will take place at 9 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Church. Very Rev Msg. Curt A. Suelzer, pastor will officiate and burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
