Lydia C. Dollie

Lydia C. Dollie, 88, who resided at Fairington Circle, South Bend, passed away at 11:17 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, after a brief illness. Lydia retired as a bookkeeper at the South Bend Clinic. She was born on May 21, 1908, in South Bend, to the late John and Caroline (Weiss) Dering. Mrs. Dollie was a lifelong area resident.

 

In 1928, she married Maynard Shuman and was widowed in 1954. She remarried on Oct. 12, 1968, in South Bend, to Richard A. Dollie. He also preceded her in death on April 15, 1987. Surviving are many nieces, nephews, and friends including three nieces; Helen Hill, Carolyn Moser, and Shirley Seifert, all of Mishawaka.

 

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, at the Hollis-Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Rev. Dale A. Speckman will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 3, in the funeral home. Lydia was a member of the St. Andrews United Church of Christ and a former member of the St. Peters United Church of Christ. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Andrews United Church of Christ.
