SOUTH BEND - Shirley L. Donohue, 86, of South Bend, IN,
passed away at 12:55 a.m. Monday, Dec. 24, in Memorial Hospital.
Shirley was born July 4, 1921, in Chicago, IL, to the late Floyd
and Emma Hammacher. She was also preceded in death by a
sister, brother and her daughter-in-law, Linda.
On September 1, 1951, in Gary, IN, Shirley
married Joseph Donohue, who survives. Also surviving are three
daughters, Mary (Howard) Goldstrom of Osceola, IN,
Patricia (Patrick) Flood of Chapel Hill, NC, and Ann
(Darrell) LaBarge of Griffith, IN; one son, Thomas Donohue
of Valparaiso, IN; six grandchildren, Colleen, Roy, Danny, Amy,
Angela and Erica; one great-grandchild, Sammy; and a sister,
Ethel Gibbs of Danville, IL. Shirley was a member of St.
Patrick's Catholic Church and the senior citizens group at the
church. In Shirley's memory, contributions may be made to St.
Patrick's Catholic Church, 309 S. Taylor St., South Bend, IN
46601.
Friends may visit with the family from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., South Bend, IN, with a Rosary recited at 5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 309 S. Taylor St., South Bend, IN. Cremation will take place at Welsheimer Crematory.
