Dorothy V. Donovan

July 16, 1919 -- May 28, 2005

                                       

Dorothy V. Donovan, 85, of The Milton Home, formerly of North Huey Street, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, May 28, 2005, and is now again with her husband at God's side.

Dorothy was born on July 16, 1919, in South Bend, IN, to William "Big Bill" and Catherine (Wiesnewski) Hosinski. She was formerly employed with the Bendix Corporation and was also a homemaker. On June 14, 1952, in St. Stanislaus Church, as Dorothy V. Hosinski, she married her husband of 52 years, Michael D. Donovan, who preceded her in death on May 22, 2004. Also preceding her in death were three sisters, Effie Miller, Irene Steiner and Florence Wroblewski, and one brother, Aloysius Hosinski.

Surviving are her children, Michelle Donovan of South Bend, Indiana, and Michael (Mary) Donovan of South Bend; three grandchildren, Tara (Shirell) Patterson, Jason Swartz and Christy Swartz; and five great-grandchildren, Austin Patterson, Miranda Patterson, McKinzie Rice, Nathanial Curtis and Conner Swartz.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 2, 2005, in Holy Cross Church. Burial followed at St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends called from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a parish Rosary was prayed at 6:00 p.m. Dorothy was a member of Holy Cross Parish, Altar Rosary Society, and a Eucharistic Minister. She was a caregiver to her family and friends. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
