Bernard C. Dooms, 77, of South Bend, passed away at 12:15 a.m. on Monday, February 13, 2006, in his home. Bernard was born on January 20, 1929, in Mishawaka, to Peter and Theresa Dooms. His parents and brother, Gerald, have preceded him in death.

On July 11, 1953, he married Mary (Kotal) in Walkerton. She survives along with sons, John (Celeste) of North Liberty, Paul (Mary) of Palatine, IL, and Peter (Lois) of Greenwood, IN; daughters, Frances (David) Hegyi of Granger and Janet Moss of Columbia City, IN; sisters, Loretta (Emiel) DeWitte of South Bend and Susan Way of Mishawaka; grandchildren, Amy, Sarah, Mike, Claire, James, Marianne, Timothy, Elizabeth, Sarah Dooms, Bradley and Nicholas Hegyi, Jordan, Janelle and Justin Moss.

Bernard was a supervisor in a machine shop. He belonged to Holy Family Catholic Church where he was a member of the Retired Ushers Club, and was in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 15, 2006, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. MAYFLOWER ROAD, SOUTH BEND, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be on February 16, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Family Catholic Church.

Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637; or to Holy Family Catholic Church.
