Sister Mary Luca CSC, 89, died in the Motherhouse of the Congregation at St. Mary’s Convent at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday after a long illness. She was born Sarah Jane Dorsey in Ashtola, Pa. on Dec. 24, 1864, and grew up in Grantsville, Md. She attended St. Catherine’s Normal School in Baltimore, joining the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1887. She received the habit in 1888 and was professed in 1893. She spent 67 years in the community and lived the last 57 years at St. Mary’s.
