MISHAWAKA - Charles A. "Chuck" Dosmann, 81, of Mishawaka, passed away Friday afternoon, January 15, 2010, at the Hearth at Juday Creek, Granger. Chuck was born November 15, 1928, in Mishawaka, son of the late John and Edith (Arnold) Dosmann. He grew up in Mishawaka and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, South Bend. On August 26, 1950, Chuck married R. Dorothy "Dottie" Chamberlin. The couple made Mishawaka their home. Chuck was employed in sales with Metropolitan Life Insurance for 17 years. In 1971 he founded Dec-O-Art in Mishawaka. He built the business on the belief that "this business is God's gift to us and our work is our gift to God." The company later moved to Elkhart and is run by his family today. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka and the Knights of Columbus #1878. He formerly belonged to the Elks and did volunteer work with the St. Vincent DePaul Society. He enjoyed woodworking, golfing and spending time with his family. Chuck and Dottie enjoyed wintering in Palmetto, Florida, for many years. Chuck's surviving family includes his wife of 59 years, Dottie; nine children, Dan (Rebecca) Dosmann of Granger, Beth Ann (Dave) Schwier of Mishawaka, Tony (Marcia) Dosmann of Mishawaka, Carl (Kathy) Dosmann of Dowagiac, Carol (Dean) Dutoi of Jefferson City, MO, Andy (Patty) Dosmann of Granger, Fred (Margaret) Dosmann of Mishawaka, Ron (Cathy) Dosmann of Mishawaka and Maria (Brad) Hunt of Granger; 22 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Chuck was preceded in death by two sisters, Sister M. Madeline Dosmann and Dorothy Miller; four brothers, Lucian, Robert, James and Joseph Dosmann; and one grandchild. Friends may spend time with Chuck's family Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in Thallemer, Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 West Third Street, Mishawaka, where a prayer service will take place at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 225 South Mill Street, Mishawaka, with Rev. Terry Fisher officiating. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Chuck's memory may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka. Assistance with memorials is available at the funeral home.
