Edward Charles Dudeck

Edward Charles Dudeck, 83, passed away on Saturday, March 26, in Memorial Hospital. Edward was born on Oct. 13, 1921, in Rolling Prairie, Ind., to Joseph and Maude (Love) Dudeck.

 

On July 17, 1943, on Coronado Island, Calif., he married Alvera Vellucci. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Edwin Dudeck; brothers, George, Paul, Albert and Walter Dudeck; and by sisters, Mary Dudeck and Helen Boyd. Surviving Edward are a daughter, Darlene (Arnold) Cohn of Glenview, Ill.; sons, Dean (Lisa) Dudeck of Lakeville, Ind., and Eugene (Kimberly) Dudeck of South Bend; and 11 grandchildren.

 

Edward belonged to Sacred Heart Church. He had a strong interest and fascination with all forms of air and space travel, as well as enjoying his collection of model trains. Well-known handyman, he could fix almost anything. A skilled carpenter, he built his own home. Edward also enjoyed big band music and dancing. Always generous with his time. He lived for his family. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps in World War II, serving in the South Pacific. He worked at Bendix for 30 years as a technician in the Aerospace Division, retiring in 1983.

 

Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 29, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 1827 E. Ireland Road, South Bend. A Rosary will be said at 3:30 p.m. Services will be on Wednesday, March 30, at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lakeville. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola, Ind. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.
