Harriett T. Dudeck, 91, formerly of U.S. 20, New Carlisle, Ind., died at 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2000, in Miller's Merry Manor, New Carlisle. She was born on Sept. 13, 1908, to the late Stanislaus and Maryann (Kusch) Niespodziany in Crumstown, Ind., and remained a lifelong area resident.

On Sept. 23, 1930, as Harriett T. Niespodziany, she married Ben S. Dudeck, who passed away on Feb. 6, 1984. She was also preceded in death by a stepbrother, Edward Ruszkowski, on May 19, 1994.  She is survived by two daughters, Joan D. (Robert) Beckner of Swartz Creek, Mich., and Phyllis (Edmund) Luczkowski of South Bend, Ind.; two sons, James (Suzie) Dudeck of New Carlisle and Robert E. Dudeck of South Bend; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three half-sisters, Clara Bilinski of South Bend, Eleanor Wawrzyniak of North Liberty, Ind., and Helen Morrissey of Glendale, Calif.; a stepsister, Irene Dabros of South Bend; and by a stepbrother, Walter Ruszkowski of South Bend.

Mrs. Dudeck was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish and its Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the War Mothers of New Carlisle and a former Rosary Maker at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, South Bend, and Miller's Merry Manor, New Carlisle.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, in the St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church, Terre Coupee, with Rev. Eugene Kazmierczak officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Polish Roman Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the KANIEWSKI FUNERAL HOME, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Harriett's name may be made to Miller's Merry Manor, 220 E. Dunn Road, P.O. Box 660, New Carlisle, IN 46552; or to St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church, 55756 Tulip Road, New Carlisle, IN 46552.
