Eldon R. Duerksen

MISHAWAKA - Eldon R. Duerksen, 69, of Northwood Drive, Mishawaka, went home to heaven at 3:00 a.m., Monday, November 3rd. He was born February 3rd, 1939 in Bridgewater, South Dakota to Ewald and Hilda (Koehn) Duerksen, who both preceded him in death. Eldon met his wife (Carolyn Eggers) at Liberty Drive Missionary Church, where they were married on September 3, 1966. Both of his sons were dedicated at Liberty Drive Missionary Church where he also served in various positions including Trustee, Sunday School Teacher, Church Board Member and Usher. Eldon enjoyed his family, traveling, yard work and collecting Farmall (red) tractors. Carolyn survives with two sons, Scott (Kimlee) Duerksen of Mishawaka and Brad (Maegen) Duerksen of Nappanee, IN. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Heather Hunsberger, Courtney Duerksen, Brian Duerksen, Skyler Duerksen and Chase Duerksen; six brothers and sisters, Elaine (Fred) Hunsberger, Arlene Duerksen, Kathie (Dave) Kiefer, Marvin (Pam) Duerksen, Alice (Gary) Reed and Carol (Mike) Peters. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald (Sharon) Duerksen and Delmer (Betty) Duerksen. He was a retired Drill Press Operator for Wheelabrator Corporation and Reese Products.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at College Park Missionary Church with Rev. Marvin Engbrecht officiating. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 North Main Street, Mishawaka. Burial will follow the services Thursday at Union Center Cemetery, Nappanee, Indiana. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Wycliffe Bible Translators, P.O. Box 628200, Orlando, Florida. 32862.
