Lucille ''Cile' (nee Schuell), 86, of St. Paul, Minn., passed away of influenza complications on Thursday, April 8, in Saint Anthony Park Home, St. Paul. She is survived by a brother, John M. Schuell of South Bend, Ind.; a son, David W. Duggan; a grandson, Peter O. Duggan of St. Paul; nephews, Mark, John and Paul West, previously of South Bend; and by many Schuell and Duggan relations. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Alverta Schuell; sisters, Hildred Schuell and Katherine West; and by her husband, William R. Duggan.

She will be greatly missed by loving family and childhood friends; by others at the St. Paul's Memorial United Methodist Church of South Bend; associates and friends from Richfield and South St. Paul School staff in Minnesota; and residents and staff in St. Anthony Park Home. Cile was born in the family home on South Bend's West Madison Street and attended the church as a child and subsequently played piano for the Sunday school. A skilled musician, dancer and Phi Beta Kappa member, she graduated from Ohio University and taught in nearby schools. She met her future husband, William R. Duggan at Notre Dame and traveled with him and their son, David, to foreign service posts in South Africa, Denmark and Canada.

Cile later moved with her son to Minneapolis, Minn. to join her sister, Hildred and mother. She worked and studied at the University of Minnesota, taught English at Minnesota schools and enjoyed travel to literary England with her sister, Hildred. Following her retirement, she returned to South Bend and rejoined the church in 1974, where she will be remembered for her work with the women's group and Bible study discussions. In 1993, she moved to Minnesota to be near her teaching friends and her son, David, daughter-in-law, Alice and her grandson, Peter Duggan. In December 1998, she moved to the St. Anthony Park Home.
