ATTELA A. DUNFEE

September 26, 1906 – December 25, 2005

 

Attela A. Dunfee, 99, of Mishawaka, passed away Sunday morning, December 25, 2005, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.

 

Attela was born September 26, 1906, in Mishawaka, a daughter of the late Albin and Catherine (Gartner) Muinch.  She spent most of her life in Mishawaka where she was a member of St Monica Catholic Church, and at one time belonged to the Rosary Society.  She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, baking and flower gardening.  Attela also did laundry for others from her home.

 

Attela married Harry Howland on July 23, 1925, and he passed away in 1961.  On February 19, 1965, she married Dennis Dunfee, and he passed away in 1979.  Attela was also preceded in death by a son, Paul, in 1963; two brothers, Bernard and Vincent Muinch; two sisters, Marguerite Snyder and Genevieve Allen; and a grandchild, Robbie Adkins.

 

Attela’s family was the center of her life and those surviving include her son, Richard J. (Ellen) Howland of Mishawaka; seven grandchildren, Larry (Sherie) Howland, Richard (Dottie) Howland, Mariann (Harry) McPhail, David Howland, Carolyn Jensen, Jewelie (Jerry) Cripe and Bob (Mary) Adkins; ten great grandchildren, Stacy Howland, Stephanie Hostetler, Kim Clements, Kenny Howland, Keri Roberts, Joshua Howland, Jacob Howland, Cassandra Howland, Ed Adkins and Sandy Adkins; 20 great great grandchildren and two great great great grandchildren.

 

Friends may spend time with Attela’s family today (Tuesday) from 4:00 to 7:00pm in Thallemer, Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. Third Street, Mishawaka.  Services will be held on Wednesday at 2:00pm in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Jeffery Largent officiating.  Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
