Sister M. Hilda Dunn CSC, 88, of Saint Mary’s Convent, died at 10 a.m. Saturday in the convent after a lengthy illness. She was born Dec. 24, 1897 in Seneca, Ill. On Oct. 11, 1918, as Loretta Dunn, she entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross at St. Mary’s, coming from Seneca. She was received as a novice on Aug. 15, 1919 and took her vows on Aug. 15, 1921. She was assigned to elementary schools throughout her community life, teaching at St. Joseph Grade School in South Bend from 1939 to 1944. Other assignments were in Washington DC; Los Angeles; Baltimore; Fairbury, Neb.; Morris, Ill.; Chicago; and Plymouth, Ind. She resided at Holy Cross Convent in South Bend from 1967 to 1983. Three sisters survive.

 

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Our Lady of Loretto Church, with internment in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery at St. Mary’s. Friends may call today and Monday in St. Mary’s Convent parlors, where a wake service will be at 7 p.m. today.
