Services for Rev. John M. Dupuis CSC, 77, who died Sunday in Casa Cruz, Phoenix, Ariz., will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Sacred Heart Church at Notre Dame. Burial will be in Holy Cross Community Cemetery. Friends may call after 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Moreau Seminary, where a wake service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m.

 

Rev. Dupuis was born Sept. 18, 1908 in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. He had lived at Christ the King Parish, South Bend, since 1978. He made his first profession of vows July 27, 1927 in the Congregation of Holy Cross; and he graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1931; and the studied theology at Holy Cross College, Washington DC; and was ordained into the priesthood in Sacred Heart Church, at Notre Dame, in 1935.He taught at Notre Dame from 1935 to 1943; served as a Navy chaplain from 1943 to 1946; served at King’s College from 1946 to 1952; was assistant pastor at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, South Bend from 1953 to 1954; and was at the University of Poland from 1958 to 1961. From 1961 to 1970 he was at the University of Notre Dame, and from 1970 to 1978 he was chaplain at St. Mary’s Academy, Monroe, Mich.
