Sister Mary Erminelda CSC, 98, of St. Mary’s Convent, Notre Dame, died at 8:50 a.m. Sunday in the convent after a lengthy illness. She was born Lillian Agnes Durm on Oct. 8, 1882 in Niles, and entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Holy Cross in 1904. She was received as a novice on Aug. 5, 1904 and professed her final vows on Aug. 15, 1906. As a teaching sister her assignments included St. Joseph High School and St. Mary’s Academy in South Bend, as well as schools in LaPorte, Anderson, Union City, Plymouth, Hammond and throughout Illinois, New York and Washington, DC.

 

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto. Burial will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, St. Mary’s campus. Friends may call up until time of services in the St. Mary’s Convent Parlors, where a wake will be held at 7 p.m. today.
