Dorothy L. Durski

SOUTH BEND - Dorothy L. Durski, 78, of South Bend, IN, died at 3:00 a.m. Sunday, February 28, 2010, in her home. She was born on May 30, 1931, to the late Jerome J. and Veronica B. (Krupa) Jaworski in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong resident. Along with her parents, three great-grandchildren, Talla Lapkiewicz, Danica Lapkiewicz and Bailey Rajski, also preceded her in death. Mrs. Durski was retired from Raco Corporation in South Bend after 17 years of employment. Prior to that she worked as a waitress at Azars Restaurant on Western Avenue in South Bend during the 1960s, and also at Tepe's on South Main Street in South Bend. On November 18, 1950, as Dorothy L. Jaworski, she married Sylvester R. "Sal" Durski at Holy Cross Catholic Church in South Bend, IN. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Sylvester R. "Sal" Durski of South Bend, IN; one daughter, Pamela S. (John) Lapkiewicz of Valdosta, GA; three sons, Bradley S. (Karen) Durski of Mishawaka, IN, Robert R. (Tina) Durski of Mishawaka, IN, and Scott E. Durski of South Bend, IN; nine grandchildren, Paula (Dan) Rajski of South Bend, IN, Jonathan (Staci) Lapkiewicz of Hahira, GA, Selena (Andrew) Riem of Granger, IN, Joseph Durski of Mishawaka, IN, Kristin (Brad) Pressler of Elkhart, IN, Christopher Durski of Evansville, IN, Krista Durski of Mishawaka, IN, Suzanne Durski of South Bend, IN, Shawn Durski of South Bend, IN; four great-grandchildren, Alexis Riem, Dathan Lapkiewicz, Chase Pressler and Aiden Riem; four step-great-grandchildren, Steven, Samantha and Ryan Best, and Daniel Rajski; one sister, Angela Sobecki of Granger, IN; and one brother, Jerome A. Jaworski of South Bend, IN. Mrs. Durski was a former member of St. John the Baptist Parish and was currently attending St. Adalbert Catholic Church. Dorothy enjoyed crocheting, bowling, working in her flower gardens, traveling and dining out at various restaurants. She loved to watch her sons play baseball at Maurice Matthys Little League, where she also donated her time running the concession stands. Dorothy especially loved spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 2010, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 5, 2010, in St. Adalbert Catholic Church.
