Obituary of Frederick George Eberhart

November 3, 1797 - December 27, 1868

EBERHART - At his late residence, in Penn Tp., Dec 27th, 1868, of apoplectie affectation of the heart, Rev. F. G. Eberhart, aged 71 years, 1 month and 24 days.

Mr. Eberhart was born in Greensburg, Green Co., Pa., November 3rd, 1797; moved to Seneca Co., N.Y. in 1822; united with the M.E. Church in 1829, and has been since that time a true member of the church militant, zealous in its cause and faithful in the performance of its duties.  He removed from New York to this Township in 1836, and was consequently one of the oldest settlers of the County.

He has been prominently connected with the interests of the M.E. Church in this Township, ever since removing here, and in this connection will be long and dearly remembered by those of his early friends and co-workers who survive him and by those who have profited by his earnest words of christian love and experience.  His descendants number 57 persons, the largest portion of whom are residents of this County.  In his death the community loses an old and valued citizen, the church one of its most respected members, and his aged companion, who survives him, a beloved husband, his children a dearly and loved and respected parent.

His funeral sermon was preached at his late residence by Elder Stabler.  Avery large concourse of friends were in attendance.
