Mishawaka lost one of its best known and most valued citizens last Thursday morning in the death of Frederick George Eberhart, chairman of the board of directors of the Mishawaka Rubber & Woolen Manufacturing company and president of the First National and First Trust and Savings banks and the North Side Trust & Savings bank.

Mr. Eberhart's death occurred at 8 o'clock Thursday morning in his home at 222 Miami terrace, after an illness of 10 days of pneumonia. He was 69 years of age.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in the residence, Elmer A. Higgins, C. S. B., of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, South Bend, in charge. Private services were held in the Mishawaka city cemetery, where interment took place.

Pallbearers were Corwin B. Hartwick, Carl W. Ginz, and George A. Cooper, of South Bend, and J. S. Wolma, C. A. Jennings and Donald B. Smith of Mishawaka.

Mr. Eberhart was born in Mishawaka April 1, 1864, the son of the late Adolphus and Sarah A. (Boyd) Eberhart. He lived in Mishawaka all his life, receiving his education in the Mishawaka schools and at the University of Kentucky at Lexington. In 1886 he entered the employ of the Mishawaka Woolen Manufacturing company, of which his father was one of the founders.

His marriage to Miss Bertha E. Judkins, who survives, took place June 14, 1888. Besides his widow he leaves two daughters, Mrs. George W. Blair and Mrs. Samuel D. Hillier, of Mishawaka, and five grandchildren, Elizabeth E. Blair, George W. Blair, jr., Frederick E. Blair, Ann E. Hillier, and Ellen Hillier, all of Mishawaka.

Mr. Eberhart, his brothers and sister, were donors of the First Methodist Episcopal church, its organ, chimes and equipment, and he assisted in building the First Church Scientist, of South Bend, of which he was a prominent member.

He and Mrs. Eberhart donated the site for the Mishawaka public library, and gave to the city the Mishawaka municipal golf course.
