Maxine Eberhart

Maxine Eberhart, 82, of Sterling Drive, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after a lengthy battle with lung disease on Wednesday, Oct. 29, in her residence.

Maxine was born in Mishawaka on Oct. 6, 1921, and was a lifelong area resident until moving to Scottsdale, Ariz., in 1973. She moved back to Mishawaka two years ago. With her husband Gene, Maxine was co-owner of Hart Manufacturing Company of Mishawaka from which she retired in 1963. She was a former member of the Morris Park Country Club, Scottsdale Country Club, Ariz., and was an avid golfer. As Maxine Barhydt, she married Gene H. Eberhart in Mishawaka on Nov. 20, 1940. He passed away on Oct. 4, 1984. Maxine was also preceded in death by one daughter, Janet Gail in 1942; one brother, Richard Barhydt Jr.; and by one sister, Lorene Hoefle.

She is survived by one daughter, Kay (Paul) Johanson of Bremen, Ind.; four grandchildren, Karl (Elizabeth) Johanson of Gilroy, Calif., Eric (Renee) Johanson of Granger, Ind., Hilary (Tony) Steinhardt of Indianapolis, Ind., and Christian Johanson of Mishawaka; six great-grandchildren, Ryan, Madison and Hunter Johanson, Reagan Johanson, and Sydney and Anthony Steinhardt. She is also survived by two brothers, Joseph and Jack Barhydt of Mishawaka.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka, with visitation with the family following services until 5 p.m.
