Previously reported as missing in action in Belgium since Jan. 5,
Private Russell J. Eberhart, jr., aged 19, formerly of
Mishawaka, has been officially listed as killed in action on that
day, according to a letter received from his father, Russell J.
Eberhart, of Pittsburgh, Pa. Before moving to Pittsburgh, where
he entered the service, Private Eberhart resided with his
grandmother, Mrs. Olga Eberhart, 1316 East Jefferson boulevard.
He entered the service in January, 1943, and was sent overseas as
a paratrooper last April. He also saw action in France. He
attended Mishawaka High school.
