Virginia P. Eddy

SOUTH BEND — Virginia P. Eddy, 79, of 2811 Vine Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away after an extended illness at 2:25 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, in the Regency Place Nursing Center of South Bend. Mrs. Eddy was born on Sept. 7, 1923, in Havana, Ill., and resided in the Michiana area most of her life.

 

On May 29, 1940, as Virginia P. Sessler, she married Lawrence Eddy, who survives and lives in Mishawaka, Ind. Virginia and Lawrence were divorced after 24 years of marriage. Virginia is survived by her companion of 27 years, Jerry P. Kellogg of South Bend; a daughter, Carol A. (Patrick) Condon of South Bend; two sons, Floyd L. (Carole) Eddy of South Bend and Herb E. (Christy) Eddy of Granger, Ind.; a sister, Evelyn (Maurice) Verstraete of Mishawaka; and a brother, Owen (Esther) Sessler of South Bend; and by five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren whom she loved and cherished.

 

Virginia was an auxiliary member of VFW Post 360, Mishawaka, and an auxiliary member of American Legion Post 143 of Bristol, Ind. Virginia will not only be missed by her loving family, she will be missed by numerous friends she acquired in her life journey. She was a caring, loving person who placed all her love toward her family.

 

Visitation hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 27, in Hanley & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home, located at West Ireland Road/Indiana 23, South Bend. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28, with Pastor Steven Nani officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind. The family request that all memorial contributions be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend. The HANLEY & Son "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home handled the arrangements and services and extend deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the Eddy family and Jerry Kellogg.
