Elizabeth F. Edwards (July 4, 1914 -- Nov. 30, 2003)

Elizabeth Florance "Betty" Edwards of Henderson, Nev., died on Nov. 30. She was 89.

 

Mrs. Edwards was born on July 4, 1914, in South Bend, Ind., the daughter of Joseph and Ethel Varro.

 

A longtime resident of South Bend, she had resided in Henderson since 2001. She, along with her husband, John Edwards, owned and operated Arrow Lodge Resort in Watersmeet, Mich., in the 1950s and 60s. She was a member of the VFW Post #1167, Ladies Auxiliary.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Edwards; two brothers, Joseph A. Varro and Steve C. Varro; and two children, Stephen Steh and Lillian Kober.

 

She is survived by a brother, Frank R. Varro of Henderson; a stepdaughter, Linda Lunsford of Kokomo, Ind.; and two granddaughters, Elizabeth Corner and Suzanna Johnson, both of South Bend. She is further survived by three great-grandchildren, Stephen, Virginia and Amanda, a great-great-grandson, Robert, along with six nieces and nephews, Ravana "Cooky," Sandy, Frances, Steve, Scott and Jay.

 

Services for Mrs. Edwards will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 8, in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., South Bend, where friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery, South Bend.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in Mrs. Edwards' name be made to the agency of the donor's choice.
