Sister Mary Frederick CSC, 81 of St. Mary’s Convent died in the convent Wednesday evening after a long illness. Born March 3, 1893 in Grand Rapids as Marta Evelyn Eggleston, she entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross on Jan. 31, 1920. She was received as a novice Aug. 15, 1920 and made her profession of vows on Aug. 15, 1922, She was a teacher at St. Mary’s from 1921 to 1929 and 1960 to 1963. She also served as president of Durbarton College in Washing DC from 1942 to 1951, and dean of students at St. Mary of the Wasatach in Salt Lake City. A St. Mary’s College graduate, she also held MS an PhD degrees from the University of Notre Dame.

 

Friends may call today and Wednesday in the convent parlors, where a rosary will be recited at 7:15 p.m. today. Services will be at 10 a.m. Fridayday in Our Lady of Loretto Church, with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery on the campus.
