SOUTH BEND - Irene T. Egry, 81, passed away at 8:55 p.m.
Tuesday, December 9, 2008, in the Healthwin Specialized Care
Facility. Irene was born on July 10, 1927, in South Bend, to
Emery and Theresa (Csoka) Egry. She was employed for 55
years with Workforce Development and also assisted with the
Hungarian Radio Hour with Wendel and Julia Lukacs. Irene was also
a member of the St. Theresa Society of St. Stephen Church, the
Sacred Heart & Rosary Society and St. Ann Society of Our Lady
of Hungary Church, St. Anthony Sick Benefit Society, Rum Village
Neighborhood Association and the Daughters of Isabella. Surviving
is a niece, Rose (Ben) Anderson of Lafayette, IN. She was
preceded in death by her parents, and by a nephew, Emery Sabados.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 12, in Our Lady of Hungary Church. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Family and friends may call two hours prior to services in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Hungary Church.
