Velma A. Ehresman

Velma A. Ehresman, 86 years old, residing on Newton Avenue in Lakeville, passed away at 3:05 P.M. on Tuesday, August 24, 1999, at the Miller's Merry Manor Nursing Home in Wakarusa, IN after battling cancer for 30 months. Mrs. Ehresman retired as a dietary aide from Memorial Hospital in South Bend in 1967. She was born on August 12, 1913, in Leiters Ford, IN to the late Alvin C. and Grace Ann (Crum) Beehler. Mrs. Ehresman had been a resident of Lakeville since 1940, moving from South Bend.

 

On August 3, 1930, in South Bend, she married Donald C. Ehresman, who preceded in death on February 26, 1990. One son, Dr. Norman Ehresman, also preceded in death in 1983. Survivors include three daughters, Jane and Thurman McGough of Cocoa, FL, Beverly and Maynard Feitz of Bremen, Nancy and Ralliegh Gross of Lakeville; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. One brother, Leonard Beehler of Kewanna, IN also survives.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 28, 1999, at the Lakeville United Methodist Church. Rev. David Cross, pastor of the church, will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 P.M. on Friday, Aug. 27, at the Palmer Funeral Home, 314 S. Michigan Street, Lakeville, and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

 

Mrs. Ehresman was a member of the church since 1940, Ernestine Circle of the church, and active in the Monday morning sewing group at the church. She was also a member of the former omemaker's Club of Colburn Acres in Lakeville, and of the Teamsters Union Local 364 in South Bend. Contributions in memory of Velma A. Ehresman may be donated to the Lakeville United Methodist Church, 610 N. Michigan St., Lakeville, IN 46536; or to Hospice of St. Joseph County, Inc., 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
